About the Department

Paschal High School's Theatre Department endeavors to provide a comprehensive educational experience.

Through challenging, multi-level coursework and diverse production opportunities, students develop performance skills and an enriched understanding of themselves and the world around them.

The work is public: a full season of productions at the Miriam Todd Theatre. The education is private and slow. Rehearsal calls, shop time, design critiques, opening nights, and the quiet accountability of an ensemble learning to carry a story together.

The artistic team

  • Mr. Drew Weesner

    Director of Theatre

A Lubbock Christian University alum with degrees in Theatre Arts (2003) and Educational Leadership (2012). Built theatre programs for seven years at Friendship High School in West Texas, with earlier stops at Stripling Middle School, before bringing the same expectation of seriousness to Paschal.

Recognized as Lubbock Christian's Outstanding Theatre Alumni in 2014. Directs musical theatre with particular enthusiasm.

  • Mr. Whitehead

    Technical Director

Spent roughly two decades performing and touring as a working musician before earning a B.F.A. in Theatre Studies and an M.A. in Education from UT Arlington, both Summa Cum Laude. Student-taught at Paschal, stayed on, and is now in his fourth year as permanent staff.

Runs the program's design, fabrication, safety, and backstage operations. Believes the work is to “strive for excellence through artistic expression.”
